Kathy Griffin is GLAAD to Represent the Gay Community!

April 28, 2008 03:06:25 by Jennifer_Brown

Emmy-Win-Courtesy-Kathy-GriffinKathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List is more than just a hilarious reality show featuring the life of comedienne Kathy Griffin. According to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) the show is also doing something right when it comes to representing the gay community.

The Bravo Emmy Award-winning series took home a GLAAD Award for Outstanding Reality Program this weekend at the 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards. The awards were created to honor mainstream media for fair, honest, and inclusive representation of the gay and lesbian community. This is the first time Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List has received a nomination.

“God knows I can’t do anything without my gays,” Griffin said of her win. “I am truly honored because of the respect I have for the gay community. Besides the fact that they are so good at coming together, mobilizing, getting the word out there about discrimination – which is still very much alive – they are still the best damn laughers in the world and I will have them as long as they’ll have me.”

The 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be telecast on Bravo on Friday, June 27th at 7:00 PM (ET), and will be followed by a telecast of Brokeback Mountain, which won the 2006 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Film.

Griffin’s show wasn’t the only Bravo show to grab a nomination for the GLAAD Outstanding Reality Program award. Three of the five nominees are Bravo’s: Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Project Runway, and Work Out. The other two nominees were Sci-Fi’s Who Wants to be a Superhero? and Fox’s Trading Spouses.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List season four is scheduled to premiere Thursday, June 12th at 9:00 PM (ET) on Bravo.

Bravo’s Schedule Stays True to Reality Fans…

April 17, 2008 08:42:50 by Jennifer_Brown

Bravo-TV-LogoThey may have taken a hit by losing hit show Project Runway to Lifetime, but Bravo’s hardly cowering in a corner licking its wounds. On Tuesday, the cable network revealed its upcoming schedule, which includes 12 returning series and three new shows.

Project Runway will run one more season on Bravo (scheduled to air in July) before moving over to the Lifetime Network. Also on the schedule are:

Top Chef, season five: This cooking competition show has some of the best chefs in the country compete against one another in weekly cooking, and cooking-related, challenges. The chefs are judged by a panel of hard-hitters in the culinary world. The winner receives a myriad of cool prizes, including a fat stack of cash, usually $100,000.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List: Following the struggles of self-proclaimed D-List celebrity comedienne, Kathy Griffin, the Emmy Award-winning show will be back for season four.

The Real Housewives of Orange County: After making a short hop to the other coast (The Real Housewives of New York City), Bravo’s bringing back the Orange County wives for season four.

Top Design, season two: It’s Project Runway for your living room. Top Design takes a dozen or so interior designers and has them compete against one another for cash prizes and a spot in the New York Designers Showcase.

Also on Bravo’s list are three new series:

The Rachael Zoe Project: a reality show following the career of celebrity stylist Rachael Zoe.

Date My Ex: a spin-off of The Real Housewives of Orange County, this show follows two of the Housewives characters as they dive back into dating.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey: another spin-off of Orange County, this time following the exploits of five New Jersey besties.

Word is there are more reality shows in the works for Bravo, as well, including one that features New York restaurant guru Donatella Arpaia, as well as a Tabitha Coffey (Shear Genius) makeover show. However, Bravo warns, don’t expect any scripted shows to be gracing the schedule anytime soon. Fans, they contend, are into the reality scene, and they plan to deliver.
