America’s Got Talent once again does the unthinkable…cuts five acts that probably should not have been in the competition in the first place. Our final group of ten acts perform to see who will make it into the Top 20 and five more acts hit the road as we are getting down to the serious contenders for this year’s massive million dollar prize. Jerry Springer welcomed the judges, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff and prepped the audience for the night ahead as we prepared to lose five acts from last night’s uneven performances. The next stop…our final performances for America’s vote to determine the Top 20.
Jerry wasted no time as we saw the recaps of the ten performances from last night and Jerry called the acts two-by-two to eliminate the acts and we learned that America voted baton-twirler, Jonathan Burkin, Sarah Lenore, the Elvis singer, Jonathan Hall and the Tauble family; leaving Michael Strelo-Smith and Sickstep for the judges to determine who goes through to the Top 20. The judges were not so hot on Michael’s performance last night and Piers voted SickStep to go through as did Sharon and Michael was sent home with a crushed dream. Hey, there is always next year.
The Dallas Desperados Dancers started off the show with a quick look at how they have trained for this moment and they came out like an in-tune cheerleading troupe, but managed to get a quick buzz off from Piers and Sharon, who vowed to be tougher on the acts from this point on. Piers told the girls that their energy was not as great as before and Sharon said that they were Ok for a half-time show but not for Vegas. The Hoff said that he agreed with Piers and that they might be in trouble but that they should be proud of their accomplishments.

An ex-Chippendale dancer, Brian Cheatham, returned to his first love, singing, to become AGT’s next great act and came out singing an old Barry White song, of course with a few old dance moves thrown in. Piers had heard enough fairly quickly and used his buzzer finger to show his disapproval. At the end of the song, Piers said that he had grown as a singer but probably belonged on a cruise ship, not in Vegas. Sharon told his to “Cut the crap” with all of the cheesy stuff and David agreed with her but hoped he would come back to have another go at it.
Flambeaux, the fire guy, desperately wants to have a Vegas home for his daring fire act but came out with the passion of a carnival act…sorry, flambeaux…and was immediately buzzed by Piers and Sharon. Piers said he was “Whacked” but that it was time to put an end to his act. Sharon said that it was bad timing and David said that he thought that his act would probably scare off families in Vegas instead of attract them.

Our young Kaitlyn Maher, the youngest in the completion was up way past her bedtime as she prepared to get buzzed by Piers…surely, he wouldn’t have the heart. Kaitlyn charged out onto the AGT stage with a rare confidence for a four year old sang a pretty good four year old rendition of “A Wonderful World.” Piers told her that she had more charm than several of the contestants and Sharon told her to move around more when she sings, but liked her a lot. David said that she brings people together and it might be the first four-year old in the finals.
Dorae Saunders, the Tina Turner wanna-be, vowed to take Tina to “A whole new level” and was lowered down on a big sparkly chair; did some non-impressive lip-syncing and was summarily buzzed off by Piers. Piers did say that she looked “Fabulous” but was not impressed with her lip-syncing ability and should be done. Sharon said that she was sensational and loved her to go on and David said that “Only in America could a transsexual make on the AGT stage.”

Donald Braswell, the America’s choice to come back, was still gracious about his second chance to prove to America that he has what it takes to become the next Vegas sensation and came out swinging with a pretty great rendition of “The Impossible Dream.” Piers did not buzz him and said that America was absolutely right to bring him back. Sharon wondered if there was room for a talent like his and wanted him to enjoy the journey more. The Hoff said that they felt bad when they had to let him go but that he “Nailed it” tonight.
The Sister act, Indiggo, was confident that they could make it to the finals as an exotic girl act that would rock America with their charisma. They came out with a goofy dance and even before they started to sing, Piers had already attempted to seal their fate. It didn’t help that he audience was booing them big time ad even though they went out to sing to The Hoff they could not curry enough favor with the audience or the judges. Piers said they should be sent back to Romania as soon as possible and Sharon told them that even though they were darling, the song was horrendous. David said that he liked watching them but doubted they could make it to the finals. Looks as though Indiggo will be going out the door tomorrow.
Dancing Dads called, The Tapping Dads, talked about how they formed their group to spend more time with their family did not want to be underestimated and wanted to make it to the finals. The Dads looked great all dressed up, but Piers would have nothing of it as his buzzer finger went off again. The audience indeed loved them and it looked as though Piers was the only one. Piers said that they were terrible dancers which caused Sharon to throw a bunch of papers at him Sharon said they were a brilliant group and The Hoff called them “Wildly entertaining.”

One of the standouts from the auditions, Eli Mattson, was still humbled about the total experience and said that it was “Up to America” and that he never wants to stop singing his songs. He sang with the heart of a seasoned professional and there was no way that Piers could even think about buzzing Eli off. With the audience standing and cheering, Piers said that he was “Sensational.” Sharon said that he was pure talent and David said that he was pure class and definitely headed to the Top 10.
The final act of the night was the popular, Nuttin But Stringz, who talked about how they fought adversity to get to this point and Piers wondered if they had enough to go on. The brothers came out quiet and quickly got the audience behind them as they combined dynamic violin playing with a Hip-Hop attitude that easily won over the judges and the crowd, but would it be enough for America? Piers said they commanded the stage and rocked it tonight. Sharon said that she was amazed at the tone from their instruments and David said that they moved everybody with their music.
Once again, AGT ends with a fantastic act and we will have to wait until next Tuesday to see who will make it to the Top 20.
