Nashville Star Results: Justin Gaston Voted Off

To kick off the Nashville Star top ten finalists performance show, host Billy Ray Cyrus called Tommy Stanley and Gabe Garcia to center stage. Billy Ray announced that Gabe Garcia was among the top vote getters but that Tommy Stanley was in the bottom two.

For the first performance, the top ten finalists sang “Like A Prayer.” The theme for this week’s show was “pop goes country.” For the first individual performance, Gabe Garcia sang “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Jeffrey Steele said, “You’re our resident cowboy. You just blew my mind.” John Rich said, “I think you just pulled it off, big time.” Jewel said, “I still think that you felt a little bit tight.”

Pearl Heart sang “Love Shack.” John Rich said, “That was great.” Jewel said, “I just want to let you know, you can just be yourself. You don’t have to act like a front person, you already are adorable and sweet.” Jeffrey Steele said, “Remember I said make the heart out of that triangle.”

Alyson Gilbert sang “I Think We’re Alone Now.” Jewel said, “It was kind of pitchy tonight.” Jeffrey Steele said, “I don’t know who I’m getting from week to week.” John Rich said, “It sounded like you gargled with vanilla before you came out and sang it.”

Ashlee Hewitt sang “You Drive Me Crazy.” Jewel said, “I see so much of myself in you in a lot of ways.” Jeffrey Steele said, “You got the goods, baby.” John Rich said, “You’re getting better consistently every week in my opinion.”

Coffey sang “Umbrella.” Jeffrey Steele said, “I know they love you, but if this is the real Coffey, I’m just not on the train yet.” John Rich said, “You’re a country soul singer.” Jewel said, “I was appreciative that you did take your notes, and you tried to bring your heart into it, and I did see that. Again, I’m going to warn you against gimmicks. I want you to be yourself.”

Laura & Sophie sang “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing).” John Rich said, “Michael Jackson should be watching this show and remember how to sing that song now.” Jewel said, “It was nice hearing you guys sing separately.” Jeffrey Steele said, “I’m so proud of you. That was fabulous.”

Special guest Danity Kane performed “Damaged.” Shawn Mayer sang “Bye, Bye, Bye.” Jewel said, “I felt that you made that country.” Jeffrey Steele said, “It wasn’t very country for me.” John Rich said, “I think the most country, the most American thing about you is the fact that you’re not scared of anything.”

Billy Ray Cyrus revealed that Justin Gaston would be joining Tommy Stanley in the bottom two. Melissa Lawson sang “True Colors.” Jewel said, “I think you’re a great country singer.” Jeffrey Steele said, “Ten, good job.” John Rich said, “I think tonight for the very first time you just showed America you’re a true artist.”

Justin Gaston sang “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.” John Rich said, “That’s the best I’ve heard you do by far.” Jeffrey Steele said, “You did a great job.” Jewel said, “Justin, most improved.”

Tommy Stanley sang “Maniac.” Jeffrey Steele said, “It didn’t get my country bone going, that performance there.” John Rich said, “You sang it really great, but that is pop goes pop. It wasn’t pop goes country.” Jewel said, “Justin out-countried you tonight.”

As Justin Gaston and Tommy Stanley waited on stage, Billy Ray Cyrus announced, “Millions of viewers made their choices, and now it’s all come down to this. The finalist who received the least amount of votes and whose Nashville Star dream is coming to an end right now is Justin, which means congratulations Tommy, you may now join the others.” Justin Gaston said, “I’m glad for the experience, and I had a great time, so thank you everybody.”
