RTV Predicts: What Our Writers Think Is In Store This Week…

Whether you love it or hate it, one thing’s for sure about it: reality TV gets people talking. That’s part of the fun of watching the shows — discussing the episodes of the past week and predicting what will happen in the week ahead. Another sure thing about reality TV: Our writers are watching. And we’re talking. And, yes, we’re predicting, too. We’ve asked our writers to make their predictions about the week ahead for your favorite shows (and ours, too!). Here’s what they said:

Joe, on American Idol:

1. For the third week in a row, a girl will be eliminated from American Idol.

2. The best performance of the week will be given by someone named David. How’s that for a safe prediction?

3. In a bit of a surprise, Neil Diamond week will turn out to be the best performance week of American Idol so far this season.

Jen, on American Idol:

For those of us old enough to remember and love Neil Diamond, this will be a rockin’ week on Idol. Someone will sing Sweet Caroline and nobody over the age of 35 will be able to get the song out of their head for three days. One of the Davids will get a tough critique from Simon. And none of the Idols will have actually ever heard of Neil Diamond before meeting him (*sigh*, get me my Geritol…).

Jen, on Dancing with the Stars:

This week is the first week where each dancer will be expected to perform two dances. So who will be able to keep up? Well, Kristi, obviously. But I think Jason will do all right this week, too. Cristian and Marissa, who have a real determination about them these days, will give it a great shot as well. The ones struggling this week: Shannon (poor thing, the judges just won’t give her a break and it’s going to begin to rattle her big time) and Mario (I just think the guy’s got bigger things on his plate right now, and I’m not sure his chemistry is right with Karina). Either Shannon or Mario will go home this week.

Jen, on The Bachelor:

They’re off to Barbados this week with Matt, for a last ditch “pick me!” Call me gullible, but I really believe Matt when he says he’s in love with all three women. So this week will be his toughest yet, as all three women wow the heck out of him under the sun. Will Chelsea be able to get past the “best buddy” stage with Matt? For some reason I don’t think so. Will Amanda be able to pour on enough charm to get his attention away from Shayne? Hmmm. That’s going to be tough. Everyone’s going to have a marvelous time, and there’ll be tons of kissing (and then some!). But in the end, I think the final two roses are going to Shayne and Amanda.

Jen, on Hell’s Kitchen:

Well, last week I discovered with some amount of shock that I’m actually pulling for one of the guys: Ben. But it’s going to be tough for him, as the guys this season, in general, just seem to be taking Ramsay’s heat double-time. This week will be a make-or-break week for Vanessa with her burnt hand (props to V for staying in the kitchen, even with a giant bandage on her hand!). And, dare I say, it will also be a week for LouRoss to shine. But in the end, I think another guy will go home this week. Oh, and Chef Ramsay will kick a trash can, throw food against a wall, and scream “What the f**k is wrong with you?!” to someone.
