Patti Stanger was lecturing her staff on the strict rules that she imposes on her clients and how the clients all assume she is too rough, especially on the “no sex until a committed relationship” rule and how the clients should listen to her or risk being single forever. Patti asked her staff if they had any questions, Chelsea and Alison shook their heads “No” and off we were running with this week’s episode of Millionaire Matchmaker.
Patti was seen critiquing an ad that she was running for the business, which surprised me because I assumed she had a pretty good reputation. It is actually a dog eat dog world in the matchmaking industry and Patti seems to set the trend when it comes to advertising her service as the “Original Millionaire’s Club” in all of her advertising. At least this week it seems as if everybody is getting along.
The girls look at the first millionaire, Robbie Love, who is a millionaire skater who financed his own educational music video on the benefits of skating. Patti asked about the marital status of Mr. Love and discovered that he had never been married and at 39 years old, was probably desperate for a serious relationship instead of the young girls who surrounded him in his video.
Bachelor number two was a younger millionaire, Brendan, who seemed light years ahead of Mr. Love in maturity but was fifteen years younger. Brendan was so impressed with Patti and her team that he actually was coming in from New Jersey just to meet Patti and have her find him a true love, preferably not Robbie Love, though.
The staff sent Patti to the airport to greet her young millionaire and after greeting Brendan warmly, pretty much got into his wishes for an ideal match. Brendan seemed very serious to meet the right girl and told Patti that he wanted a laid back girl, someone more easy going. Patti’s stock question of the Hollywood girl he would like to date had Brendan immediately telling her, actress Elisha Cuthbert of 24 fame. Patti asked him about his New Jersey roots and wondered how easy it would be for an LA girl to relocate to New Jersey.
Patti’s next stop was to see the rolling rapper, Robby Love, who made his money building a sports complex in Florida. Even with the rapping skating video he sent to Patti, he was actually a decent guy who was currently involved with a project of roller skating across the nation raising money for the St. Jude Hospital for Kids. Patti greeted Robby and he lived in the most pitiful place a millionaire could live, a dumpy apartment building. Patti even asked him why he was living in what looked to be a dorm room, telling Robby that, “This is the Millionaire’s Club.” Robby explained that he was living in the dumpy hotel by choice and that if a woman only wanted him for his money, then he didn’t want them anyway. Patti looked as though this was not going to go well with Robby and explained to him that if he decided to put love first then the universe would yield.
In a rare flashback, Patti revisited Harold from several episodes back to see if he had changed his attitude about dating women more his age. I guess we didn’t have enough to see with our two millionaires from this episode, so we had to visit past failures, I mean, guys who were unable to find love. Harold was cordial to Patti and Patti was desperate to find out why Harold was striking out. Patti was determined to have Harold date older women and not the younger ones who Harold was prone to date.
Back at the office, Patti was desperate to find some women for the current millionaires and Patti seemed to be struggling with the girls who the staff was presenting for the roller-skating rapper dude. In her search, however, she came across a gem for Brendan who she thought might work for a starter date.
Patti met the millionaires at the same time so she could present her findings to the guys. Patti was high on a beautiful blond, Dawn, for Robby and a beautiful girl, Charlene, who was part Asian, for Brendan, not at all like he said he wanted as he preferred blonds. Patti then gave the boys dating tips and Robby took immediate offense to Patti’s rules and believed that Patti was treating him like she was his mommy. Truthfully, he was acting pretty immature to Patti, so, never mind what I said about him before about bring a decent guy.
Patti was then seen meeting with another past client, Jeff, a millionaire from an episode past, to speak with him about his passive-aggressive dating style that he had been exhibiting. Evidently, Jeff was not being aggressive enough by asking out the girls right away for the second date.
Brendan had his first date with Charlene and found her beautiful and was immediately attracted to her as he had a classy lunch with her but lost her when he said the menu was pretty eclectic. The server brought out the fancy food with the pretentious names and poor Charlene looked as helpless as the dead shrimp on the platter. Charlene said that she would try the food but would probably not eat it, which impressed Brendan…not really. Charlene asked Brendan if he liked to dance, and he indicated that he wasn’t that thrilled with it. It’s funny, you could almost see the energy physically draining away from the date at this point as Charlene picked at her food. Brendan was completely non-plused with his date with Charlene. He thought her nice, but not worldly enough for him.
Robby met Dawn at the skating park for the start of their date and immediately won her over when he said that she “looked much better in person”. What a charmer he is! Dawn seemed to like Robby’s personality and said that he seemed fun. The skating went on and on and Robby was amazed at the good positive energy that he had with Dawn. Robby immediately started to gripe about the commandments that Patti laid down with him to Dawn, and she listened and took in all in stride. Robby finally understood what Patti was telling him as he garnered the courage to ask Dawn on a second date, which she eagerly accepted.
Patti met with the millionaires in her office and Brendan was not thrilled with Charlene and wanted another woman to date while Robby told of his success with his date and that he would be going out with her again. Patti said that Robby was not one of her favorites but that he was growing up a bit.
Brendan’s second date was with his “Elisha Cuthbert” type, Carolyn, a pretty blonde from North Carolina. Brendan took her on a helicopter ride around the city to see if he could make a love connection. The pair seemed to make the connection, especially with their funny headphones they had to wear in the helicopter as they rode around, Brendan and Carolyn talked about worldly travels they had taken and immediately went to lunch to seal the deal after they landed. Brendan was truly taken by Carolyn and they both agreed to a second date.
Dawn met Robby at his premier of his film that he made about roller skating around America and they both looked great as they dressed up for the big event. Robby had indeed seemed to grow up a bit right before our eyes as he introduced his film and his date, Dawn. As the film finished, Dawn was truly moved by how sensitive Robby was, and he was not as goofy as he had seemed. OK, I take it back…again. I guess he is OK after all.
Brendan was conversing with Patti about the date, and he was intent that he was going to have another date and a possible future with Carolyn. Patti advised him again as to some tips and after a hug, Brendan extolled the virtues of what Patti does with her service.
Patti’s had her final confab with Robby about his big date with Dawn and after Robby said how much he enjoyed the dates with Dawn, informed Patti that he didn’t want to be fixed up anymore. You could see Patti’s face change as she once again thought Robby quite immature. OK, he is not good… and that is my final answer!
Brendan ended up going on several more dates with Carolyn and was trying to date her from New Jersey as much as possible and Robby ended his relationship with Dawn and did use Patti’s service again to date other girls. So much for him not wanting to be fixed up again.
