Charlie Sheen Calls for Boycott of Ex’s Show

February 29, 2008 10:16:24 by Jennifer_Brown

Denise-Richards-Courtesy-MSNBCHe may have lost in the courtoom, but actor Charlie Sheen isn’t going to give up the fight. He’s appealing to the court of public opinion to do what the real courts didn’t.

The actor “half-jokingly” told People that he plans to boycott the new reality TV show of his ex, Denise Richards, and hints that audiences should do the same.

“We should all just boycott the thing!” He says, “The world is upside down sometimes.”

Sheen and Richards battled it out in court when Richards announced plans to star in a reality TV show and include the couple’s children. Sheen, who didn’t want the children to be allowed to appear in the show, lost the court battle and Richards’ show plans moved forward.

No word yet on when the new show will premiere, but we can guess one thing for sure: Charlie won’t be parked in front of his TV to watch it.

Check back with Reality TV Magazine for more news on Denise Richards’ reality series as it comes available.

ABC Keeps on A-Dancin’…and A-Swappin’…and A-Movin’ That Bus

February 29, 2008 10:09:43 by Jennifer_Brown

ABC LogoBetter keep that bus warmed up, Ty — ABC isn’t letting go of its hit reality shows any time soon.

ABC recently announced renewals of five unscripted shows, including the popular and dramatic Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Also on the list is Wife Swap, Supernanny, The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette. And, of course, reality TV wouldn’t be the same without ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, also renewed.

Likewise, viewers can expect to keep laughing over those hilarious home videos, as ABC has renewed a 19th — yes, I said 19th!!! — season of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Not on the list of renewed shows is Dancing with the Stars spin-off, Dance War (C’mon, I really liked that show!).

Check back with Reality TV Magazine for dates and times of the shows as they’re announced.

Donny Osmond Planning to Outdance Dancing Star Marie

February 29, 2008 09:30:30 by Jennifer_Brown

Donny-and-Marie-Courtesy-BBCOkay, it’s what we kids of the ’70s have been waiting for for decades. The Osmonds are planning to get back together for a tour (I’ve been feathering my hair and singing “Deep Purple” all day).

Donny Osmond, brother of Dancing With the Stars contestant, Marie Osmond, has announced that the famous fam will be touring together later this year, followed by a stay in Vegas for Donny and Marie.

“I have found footage in my basement that we haven’t seen since 1973, so we’re going to use that in the tour,” he told Good Morning America on Wednesday. ”We’re going to the U.K., all over Asia, and then Marie and I are going back to Vegas.”

And Donny has plans for Vegas: To prove once and for all that he’s the better dancer in the family. He revealed to GMA that there’ll be a dance competition between the brother-sister team while in Vegas, one which he plans to win.

Marie Osmond stole the hearts of Dancing With the Stars audiences with her good humor and charming demeanor (and, okay, she’s still cute as heck!) in season 5, taking 3rd place.

So I can’t remember…which one of them is a little bit country? And is the other still a little bit rock and roll? And where did I put my white leisure suit…?

Lifetime-LogoWell, dance junkies, you’ve got your wish: another dance competition show will be debuting tonight on Lifetime.

Actually, the folks at Lifetime did a nice job keeping the lid on this one, making noises about creating a dance reality show called Dance Nation, when in fact what it was putting together was Your Mama Can’t Dance, a dance competition where 10 professional dancers will try to teach their parents how to dance.

The show will be hosted by Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering, who competed in the fourth season of the reality dance show giant, Dancing with the Stars. The dancers will be judged by choreographer Cris Judd, Tony Award-winner Ben Vereen, and singer Vitamin C, and will be competing in front of a live audience for a grand prize of $100,000. Viewers at home will be able to vote via telephone, text messaging, and the Internet to help decide the winner.

February 29, 2008 08:53:40 by Jennifer_Brown

Patti Stanger and her Staff of The Millionaire MatchmakerMillionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger isn’t into the romance-connection business for the TV show. Nor is she in it for the money.

“I love my business,” she claims. “If I were a millionaire and I won the lottery tomorrow, I would literally go around the world doing this for people for free. Like a “Mother Theresa” of matchmaking.”

On this week’s season finale of Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti will be helping two millionaires find Mrs. Right. One, Paul, is a Las Vegas real estate developer with a tendency to interrogate his dates. The other, Heinz, is the owner of L.A. Models and is used to being surrounded by supermodels (no pressure there).

Finally, Stanger, who loves receiving wedding invitations from former clients, receives a shocking proposal that will leave her stunned.

Catch the season finale of Millionaire Matchmaker on Tuesday, March 4 at 10:00 PM (ET) on Bravo.

American Idol Breakdown: Contestant In Tears

February 29, 2008 01:01:44 by Joe Reality

Alaina Whitaker

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is always attempting to find clever new ways to tell American Idol contestants that their dreams have been crushed.  Sometimes he takes the direct approach.  Other times he makes one contestant think they are going home, only to switch suddenly and eliminate another contestant.

On the most recent American Idol results show, Seacrest pulled the old switch job on the youngest contestant still in the competition.  As eighteen year old Kady Mallow and sixteen year old Alaina Whitaker waited on center stage, Seacrest announced, “Kady [long pause], you are safe.”  Both Kady and Alaina reacted in shock when they realized that Seacrest had said Kady was safe instead of going home, which meant Alaina had been eliminated.

After hugging Kady Malloy, Alaina Whitaker broke down into tears and sobbed, “I can’t sing.  Sorry, this is embarrassing.”  Even though Seacrest had delivered the crushing blow, he quickly changed his tune and rushed in to comfort the distraught contestant.  Seacrest hugged Alaina, assuring her, “It’s ok.  It’s alright.”  Seacrest continued, “I just want to talk about the reality of what you’ve done and what you’ve accomplished.  From meeting you, you know across the country, we saw thousands and thousands of people, you made it to a very small group on this stage, and almost nobody gets to do that.  You’re singing with these girls, and every week somebody has to go on this show.  No matter how good you are, somebody’s got to go every single week until we get to the end.”

After a round of applause from the audience and words of encouragement from Paula Abdul, Seacrest told Alaina, “You said that this is embarrassing, and this is not embarrassing at all.  You should be very, very proud of yourself.  Very proud, congratulations.”  Seacrest gave Alaina the choice of if she wanted to sing a final song or not.  As Alaina shook her head and started to decline, the other American Idol girls voiced their support.  With the other girls joining Alaina on stage, she managed to make it through a farewell performance of “Hopelessly Devoted To You.”

Make Me A Supermodel: Speeding Up

February 28, 2008 10:10:35 by Lisa_Stauber

Bravo TVTyson Beckford gets right down to business this week on Make Me A Supermodel, sending Jackie home. Ben and Perry are safe, and that leaves only two girls left in the loft. Shannon and Holly are some of the strongest contenders, though, so watch out boys!

A note lets the models know to be ready for a winter weekend bright and early the next day. The contestants head out to Wyndham Resort for some snowy fun. First, though, they must get through the photo shoot. In a twist, the person who doesn’t shine will not be staying at the lodge, but will be sent home to the loft.

As Niki Taylor begins to explain the week’s theme – Speed and Motion – Shannon suddenly collapses. She’s hauled away by a paramedic on a snowmobile while Niki helpfully tells her to throw up.

Photographer Dennis Golonka wastes no time in letting the models in on their photo assignment – Snow Motion. The models are partnered up and given playful props.

Perry and Ronnie make a pair and are told to act like friends, but Perry is way out of his element. Raised in Phoenix, he doesn’t have a chance on the short skis he’s given. He splits his pants before a single frame is snapped. After an eternity of falling down the hill, Dennis has his shot.

Next up are Holly and Ben. They’re given a sled to stand on, and take some great shots. Dennis hands them a glass of champagne, and Holly doesn’t spill a drop. “Holly executed it flawlessly form the beginning,” Dennis says.

Shannon makes a comeback after being released from the infirmary and takes her place with Frankie and Casey. They’re told to run and slide at the camera, modeling a playful, friendly look. Poor Shannon is having a bad day, as she immediately splits open her knee. After washing the blood away, Dennis finally gets a great shot of the trio. “Shannon was beautiful in every shot,” he says, but feels quite differently about the guys. “Casey was dead in the eyes.” Ultimately, though, the photographer singles out Frankie as the worst of the bunch and sends him back to the city.

Frankie doesn’t miss much, however, as trainer Clay Burwell makes an appearance bright and early to put the models through their paces. He announces a contest, and losers have to clean the loft. Ben and the girls team up against Perry, Casey and Ronnie.

Ben’s competitive side comes out, and he starts trash talking. He even sabotages the other team’s snow tower. “I think he did cross the line,” Holly says.

Ronnie’s hurt. “Ben, you’re supposed to be my friend and now you’re making these derogatory comments about me?” Later, Ronnie and Casey confront him. “You took me to a really dark place,” Ronnie says. Ben’s apologetic, and the buddies hug and make up. My, my, all these guys sure do have a sensitive side!

Holly, Shannon and Ben are stuck cleaning the loft and it couldn’t come at a better time. “I forgot how disgusting our house was,” Holly says.

Shannon’s sick again, throwing up all night. She earns a trip to the hospital, just before the catwalk assignment. Could one of the models be eliminated due to a stomach bug?

Niki gives the contestants some instructions on how the pros handle themselves. “A model must be perfect, in all walks, at all speeds.” She’s got a surprise for the contestants. The catwalk will be a turntable, and the models must spin and pose three different ways. This week’s designer is Ben Sherman, known for his sleek, mod designs.

Shannon ditches the hospital to walk the runway, but has to go back afterward. Nobody seems to know what’s wrong, but she pulls off a great walk, and doesn’t throw up on the spinning platform.

Now that there are just seven models, the judges dispense with the compliments. They give Perry a pass, and then simply declare Holly the winner. Ronnie is safe as well.

“Shannon, we admire your perseverance and dedication,” Tyson says, “but any little thing can land you in the bottom three.” Ben is called mediocre, and Frankie is told his walk “sucked” by Cory Bautista. After some discussion, Shannon is safe and it’s an all male lineup for the vote. It’s our turn to choose Ben, Casey or Frankie – who do you think can be made into a supermodel? Go to www.bravotv.com and vote now!

Celebrity Apprentice: “That Tito is a Special Person”

February 28, 2008 09:38:27 by Jennifer_Brown

Tito-Celebrity-Apprentice-Courtesy-NBC“‘Sleepy Boy’ is back!” Lennox announces as he and Piers join the other contestants in the war room after Marilu’s elimination. Lennox doesn’t understand why he was called into the boardroom in the first place, believing that Piers and Marilu exaggerated his “sleepiness” in order to save their own hides. But Piers won’t cave to Tito’s and Stephen’s pressure to apologize to Lennox, because he believes that Lennox does skate by in the competition.

Next thing we know it’s sunrise and Stephen greets the morning by calling his mother to present his $20,000 winnings for her charity, The Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Donald (pink tie) gathers the teams in the lobby of Hearst Tower in New York City to present them with their next task, which will be to create a four-page Redbook photo advertorial to sell Dial Nourishing Yogurt Body Wash. The winner of the task will receive $20,000 for the charity of their choice.

Tito throws his hat in for the Project Manager job for Empresario, and Carol, who’s been on the cover of Redbook five times, grabs the PM job for Hydra, despite The Donald’s warnings that she shouldn’t spread herself so thin.

The teams meet with the Dial and Redbook execs and right away it’s obvious that Piers has put on a new game face. This is the kinder, gentler Piers we’re still getting used to. He’s no longer bowling people over or slinging insults. Even Lennox notices that Piers is being unusually easy to get along with.

Piers pushes Carol to be their model for this task, even though Carol worries long and loud that she shouldn’t try to do too much – knowing that, because of The Donald’s warnings, if Hydra should lose, she’ll be on the first train out of Trump Tower. But Piers is insistent and Carol eventually goes with it. “This is my world and this is what I’ve done. I can’t pass the buck,” she says.

Meanwhile, Empresario is joking with the Redbook execs about the fact that they’ve run “that ugly Tim McGraw” (Trace’s words, not mine) on the cover, but have never had Trace. Empresario takes the idea and runs with it – centering their advertorial around a desert/country theme, with a bare-chested Trace front and center. “Trace is going to be a supermodel before this is all over, God bless him,” Stephen jokes. But in the end, Stephen believes that the photo of Trace is too edgy and kills the picture from the spread, much to Omarosa’s chagrin. Trace isn’t too upset about his supermodel career ending so abruptly. “I pretty much look like a cadaver right now,” he complains.

The teams face the Dial execs, the Redbook execs, and The Donald (still a pink tie) to unveil their ads. First up is Hydra, with smooth-talking Piers as their front man. Hydra’s advertorial revolves around all the “big moments” in a woman’s life, and carries the slogan, “Good for me, great for my skin.” With a sidebar of yogurt facts, a gorgeous bathtub shot, and a sexy bedroom shot (is Carol being bitten by the male model?!), the ad is going to be tough to beat.

Empresario takes the stage next, and poor Tito struggles with his presentation. Their slogan is, “Naturally beautiful skin has no boundaries” and the spread features a bathtub beauty being serenaded by (fully-clothed) Trace.

With the pitches over, the teams greet The Donald in the boardroom. The Donald gives Tito trouble over how nervous he looked during the pitch and then calls Hydra on the carpet for the too-edgy bite shot. Carol boldly pronounces, “I would rather be fired for standing up to a challenge than for running away from it,” (you go, girl!) which actually makes The Donald happy.

He gives each team the other team’s advertorial. Piers calls Empresario’s spread “boring,” and “amateurish.” Omarosa says Hydra’s bedroom shot is “a bit edgy.” There’s a brief back-and-forth between Stephen and Piers as Piers complains that the writing is all too tiny on Empresario’s ad (”Put on your specs, mate!” Stephen hollers over and over again). The Donald cuts it short, however, and pronounces Hydra the winner of the task (Carol will take $20,000 to her charity, the Tony Alt Memorial Foundation). The team leaves to celebrate, Piers boasting that the Carol/Lennox/Piers Hydra is a “dream team.”

Under the spotlight, Tito complains that he was pushed into the project manager position by Omarosa. But Trace sticks up for Omarosa because she worked the hardest of everyone on the team. There’s some question as to whether Stephen’s neck should be on the line because he basically ran the team. But in the end, The Donald laid it all at the project manager’s feet.

“Tito, you’re fired. But I will tell you you’re really special.” The Donald then gives Tito $50,000 of his own money to donate to Tito’s charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. “That Tito is a special person,” he says to Ivanka after Tito leaves.

In the cab, Tito is happy that he was able to get some money for St. Jude’s, because that’s what this game is all about. He feels a little bit bad about not trying harder, but is happy that he “met great people,” and thought it was “nice to work with Donald Trump.” He reminds viewers to watch for him in the octagon, where he’ll “kick some ass!”

Next on Celebrity Apprentice:Omarosa accuses Piers of being gay in yet another ugly Piersarosa showdown.

Survivor: Micronesia — Writer Mikey B. Erased From Game

February 28, 2008 07:39:15 by Ryan Haidet

mikey-b-survivor2.jpgThe Malakal (favorites) tribe spent the day after the most heated Tribal Council yet this season, battling about last night’s vote. Cirie was upset with Ami that she had voted for her and then Jonathan got involved spurring another eruption between the two. That makes one wonder, why don’t they form the most unlikely alliance in the game? James and Ozzy were upset with their decision to take out Yau-Man instead of Eliza because of her weakness caused by an illness. James said that he’s all about keeping the strongest people and he was aggravated they listened to Cirie. Then around the fire, James was letting everybody know how he felt — Eliza too. She started standing her ground to kick off the best episode to date in this 16th season.

At Airai (fans), most of the group were expressing their concerns about Chet being worthless. Natalie, Jason and Mikey B. were all upset with him saying that he was essentially dead weight at challenges.

At the reward challenge, host Jeff Probst told the competitors that one at a time, they were to swim out to a 30-foot underwater cage that held 10 coconuts for each team. The task was simple — push all 10 of the coconuts to the end of the cage, taking them to a bin. Once all 10 were in the bin, they would take it to shore where the four remaining contestants would take those coconuts with letters on them to unscramble a word. Swim king Ozzy took his time on his first trip out moving multiple lettered coconuts to the end of the cage instead of just one like fan Jason did. Although this strategy gave the fans an early lead, it wasn’t long before Ozzy’s plan got Malakal a full bin. As the word was going to be unscrambled, James said he thought it could be the word triumphant. He was right and they claimed victory winning three egg-laying hens and one rooster.

As is custom, the winners picked one loser to go to Exile Island and yet again, Kathy was chosen. Then they sent their own, Ozzy, to the tiny-island’s shores. She was happy to be meeting all of the previous players (her third different one at Exile Island), but she was growing distasteful of the place. She was spent and didn’t care about the hidden immunity idol hidden there, so she decided she was not going to be looking for it any longer. Ozzy told her he was going to search for some food while she made a fire, but he went looking for the prize instead. It didn’t seem like it took him long, but Ozzy found the idol. Then, as he said he had learned from Fiji favorite and the most recent ouster, Yau-Man, he was going to carve a fake idol. He did just that, wrapped it up in a cloth and hid it in the exact spot he found the real one hoping that somebody would eventually find it and try to play it. Back at camp, Airai had downed spirits because they have lost every reward challenge. This made them realize, that since Kathy went to Exile with Ozzy that she would likely be eating better than they would because of his strengths at survival — this didn’t seem to be the case since he was so focused on finding the idol instead of eating.

Day 11 arrived with Eliza and Parvati walking along discussing strategy and eventually Jonathan overheard them talk about voting him off. It started with Eliza concerned for herself and she promised Parvati that she would be truthful to her till the end of the game, and that’s something she felt Jonathan couldn’t promise her. She was turning on her original alliance and was ready to vote out Jonathan. The timing couldn’t have been better because as he became the target in their talks, he appeared right behind them.

At the immunity challenge, the tribes were reunited with their exiled players and then Probst described what they had to do to win the challenge. Similar to challenge seen in Fiji’s season, six players were connected within a sliding contraption, maneuvering their way along the woods while collecting necklaces throughout the course. But first, they had to unlock themselves to free up the harness. Malakal was first out of the locks and made a big lead out on the course. The fans weren’t having much success with their harness and the favorites had all six necklaces before the fans had one. Eliza and Cirie took the necklaces and matched them up in a confusing, circular puzzle trying to figure out the winning phrase, “Tribe stays intact.” Malakal took another victory meaning that everybody was safe at their camp. The same couldn’t be said for Airai.

After the challenge, Airai was faced with knocking one of their own out of the game. Mikey B. was still upset with Joel for backstabbing him the last time they went to Tribal Council. Mikey B.’s plan was to befriend Joel making him think that he is forgiven to only turn on him and betray him right back. Tracy was trying to hold together her three-way alliance with Kathy and Chet. It appeared that Chet was ready to quit because he was tired. He said his body was out of the game, but his mind was in it. Some fan he is. Tracy asked Joel who was going home and he said they were voting for Kathy and Chet. Tracy campaigned hard when she called Joel out for following Mikey B.’s decision to oust one of them and she promised they would vote for Mikey and she wanted him to do so, too. Joel sounded convinced, but Chet didn’t.

Their second trip to Tribal Council arrived with Chet owning up that he hasn’t been performing all that well in challenges. Mikey B. then said that Chet’s exhaustion made it tough for him to compete. But then, again, Tracy said that each time when Kathy, herself or Chet weren’t competing, their tribe still lost. Right before the vote, Jason pled his case to his tribemates saying they need to consider taking out the weakest person to keep their tribe strong. He was the first to vote and said, “Please leave the island” after he cast his ballot for Chet. Probst revealed the votes and Mikey B. was written out of the game in a 6-3 vote. Tracy’s strategy paid off.

After he was eliminated, Michael Bartone, an aspiring actor/writer from Los Angeles said, “Am I surprised it’s me? No because I’m playing with a bunch of weak players who listened to Joel. Don’t trust Joel, he’s going to stab you in the back. It was obvious who needed to go. I wish I was in the game longer. I guess I came out too strong. I was never lazy, I always did what I could to help the tribe, so yeah, they’re going to miss me. No doubt.”

With two gone from each tribe, next week’s episode promises a tribal swap and Jonathan getting a visit from the medical team.
