"NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly, Presented by Chevrolet" will broadcast live on NBC from two of the top cities for ringing in the New Year–New York City and Las Vegas. Hosted by Carson Daly of NBC’s late-night show "Last Call with Carson Daly," the special will air December 31 at 11:30 p.m. (ET) and will include guest appearances by Hayden Panettiere from NBC’s breakout hit of the television season "Heroes," rockers Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro as well as the band OK Go.

VERSUS and the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) announced that Chris Daughtry, lead singer of the chart-topping rock group, Daughtry and American Idol finalist, will be performing Saturday, January 6, at the VERSUS Invitational presented by Amp’d Mobile from Madison Square Garden. The VERSUS Invitational kicks off the 2007 season of the PBR Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler and this special performance will take place during intermission at the event, which begins at 2 p.m. ET. Daughtry’s performance will be part of the exclusive VERSUS telecast on January 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Bravo announced the acquisition of nine episodes of the Emmy Award-winning docu-drama series "Taxicab Confessions" in a deal with HBO. The announcement was made by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo. The critically-acclaimed, one-hour series makes its basic cable premiere on Bravo, Friday, December 29 with three back-to-back episodes (11 PM-2 AM ET/PT), followed by a New Year’s Eve marathon and a fourth original episode, Sunday, December 31 (12:30-4:30 AM ET/PT).

Just like last year, we selected another surprise American Idol elimination at the top of our list. After Constantine Maroulis’ early departure from American Idol 4, one would have thought that voters would have known not to fall into the trap of thinking their favorite was safe. Chris Daughtry’s surprise elimination from American Idol 5 once again had viewers screaming about voting conspiracies.

In 2006, reality TV shows continued to flourish. This year in addition to our Top Ten Reality TV Shows list we decided to create a separate list for brand new reality TV shows. Why did we decide to create the new list? Well, because we found returning reality TV shows dominating our top ten list so we wanted to have another way to recognize some of the standout new shows. There were a lot of new reality TV shows in 2006, and we have picked what we think were the most interesting and entertaining five.

The classification for celebrity is anyone who was famous before appearing on reality TV or any host or judge for a reality TV show.
