The Dolan Family on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

April 30, 2005 11:03:00 by Joe Blackmon

In November 2004, James Dolan of St. Petersburg, Florida made news because the unthinkable happened — a deranged man with a gun walked into the electronics store where he worked and opened fire. In fifteen seconds that would forever change the lives of the Dolan family, three people died, including the gunman, who had shot James in the head. Miraculously James survived, but without his eyesight. Now James is in the news again, but for a much happier reason. He and his family are the recipients of an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," in two back-to-back episodes to air SUNDAY, MAY 1 (7:00-8:00 p.m. and 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), on the ABC Television Network. The design team will replace the Dolans’ 1960s-era ranch house with a brand new home that’s more navigation-friendly for him.

Stephenie LaGrossa Voted Off Survivor Palau

April 28, 2005 11:49:01 by Joe Blackmon

Stephenie LaGrossa attempts to organize the women on tribe Koror.  Stephenie points out that there are four women but only three men remaining on the tribe.  She tries to convince the women that if they don’t get rid of Tom then he will be unstoppable in the challenges.

The reward challenge is an auction.  The Survivors are asked to bid on on various items, most of which are concealed from their view.  The Survivors pay $120 for an ice cream sundae; $260 for a cheeseburger, fries and soft drink; $300 for spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread; $40 for cold beer; and $220 for letters from home.  If inflation keeps rising in the U.S., then it probably won’t be that long before those prices start to sound reasonable.

Save the Rocker! Bo Bice Comes Under Fire for Previous Drug Arrests.

April 28, 2005 07:49:42 by Joe Blackmon

Last night American Idol viewers saw one of the rockers eliminated from the competition.  Before American Idol fans could even come to terms with losing Constantine Maroulis, TheSmokingGun.com took aim at the only other rocker in the competition.  According to TheSmokingGun.com, Bo Bice has two previous arrests for drug possession.  In June of 2001, Bo was arrested for felony cocaine possession. In July of 2003, Bo was arrested for marijuana possession, public intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both drug possession charges were dismissed as part of Bo entering into a drug diversion program.

Bo Bice is the second American Idol 4 contestant to have a previous arrest record exposed by TheSmokingGun.com.  In late March of this year, TheSmokingGun.com reported on a felony domestic violence arrest in Scott Savol’s background.  Just as in the case of Scott Savol, American Idol producers have stated that Bo Bice was very forthcoming to them about his previous arrest record.  Bo Bice is not at risk for elimination from the competition because he was honest about his past.

Did an Internet Plot Get Constantine Maroulis Booted From American Idol 4?

April 28, 2005 01:04:25 by Joe Blackmon

Did an Internet plot save Scott Savol and result in Constantine Maroulis getting booted from American Idol 4?  Most of America is dazed and confused over how Scott Savol landed in the top three and Constantine Maroulis got sent home.  Outraged viewers are swearing that they will never watch American Idol again.  Constantine’s elimination is quickly turning into the most controversial elimination ever on American Idol.

Conspiracy theories are circulating like wildfire.  Some people are saying the voting is rigged and that producers wanted Constantine off the show because they were upset over his band signing a record deal.  Other people think that there was something wrong with Constantine’s phone line and voters couldn’t get through.

April 27, 2005 11:05:00 by Joe Blackmon

It’s down to the final four on NBC’s "The Apprentice" with Alex left team-less after last week’s boardroom and facing the intimidating trio of Tana, Kendra and Craig (Thursday, April 28, 9-10pm ET/PT). Donald Trump, however, immediately summons the four remaining candidates back down to the lobby to let Alex choose a teammate from the opposing squad. His decision rattles "Magna" setting the stage for a competitive final four showdown.

Trump assigns the teams to create and design a commemorative t-shirt for apparel giant Hanes that will "celebrate fifty years of t-shirt culture." Each team works with a renowned pop-culture artist-Romero Britto for "Magna" and Burton Morris for "Net Worth"-to manufacture the t-shirt and sell it for one day at the Manhattan fashion boutique "Scoop."
