Omarosa Eats Worms on Fear Factor

February 28, 2005 01:21:00 by Joe Blackmon

FearfactorrealityFed Up With Reality TV Stars? See Them Eat Worms And Worse — This special 2-hour episode features what host Joe Rogan calls "15 more minutes of fame" for a cast of all reality stars: Omarosa ("The Apprentice"), Ryan Sutter (winner "The Bachelorette"), Ethan Zohn ("Survivor All-Stars," winner "Survivor Africa"), Jenna Morasca ("Survivor All-Stars," winner "Survivor Amazon"), Reichen Lehmkuhl (winner "Amazing Race 4") and Nikki McKibbin ("American Idol 1"). As a bonus, Trista ("The Bachelorette") is on hand to cheer for her husband Ryan, and is surprised to find she must face a challenge of her own. Naturally, conflict, tension and tantrums surround Omarosa throughout the competition, which includes racing a car up and over another car as many times as possible before crashing. Another stunt involves attempting a horizontal rope crawl suspended under two helicopters hovering over L.A. Harbor. But the much-anticipated signature gross-out stunt gives the viewers what they want: seeing these personalities confronted with biting snakes, worms and blenders.

American Idol Top Ten Male Singers Compete

February 28, 2005 01:05:00 by Joe Blackmon

AitoptenmenThe Top 10 Male Singers compete on American Idol 4 on Monday, February 28 starting at 8P.M. ET.  Some clear favorites have begun to emerge, so it will be interesting to see what two guys are sent home this week.  Based on last week’s competition, Anwar Robinson is probably a safe bet to survive.  In the past, great contestants on American Idol have been told they could sing the phone book and still make it sound good.  Anwar proved by picking an unusual song and then singing it incredibly that he is this year’s "phone book singer."  When judges tell singers that they picked the wrong song that is just a nice way of saying that they don’t have the range to win the American Idol competition.  The truly great singers succeed even when they pick the wrong song.  Anwar’s ability to sing everything well will make him a force to be reckoned with in the competition.

Before last week, Bo Bice was better known as "the other rocker."  Then, he proceeded to light up the stage with the hands-down best performance of the night.  In one song, Bo went from "the guy who was going to lose to Constantine because there isn’t room for two rockers" to "the guy who just might win it all."  But don’t fret for poor Constantine Maroulis, he has built up a large and devoted fan base and probably won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.  However, we wouldn’t be surprised if some of the American Idol producers that had built Constantine up with extensive screen time weren’t calling local hospitals to inquire about the feasibility of having Bo’s vocal cords transplanted into Constantine’s body.

Mario Vazquez didn’t get selected to sing background vocals for Michael Jackson by being a slouch.  Mario is already a professional talent and barring a major mistake, he is virtually guaranteed to be around for awhile.  Anthony Fedorov, Scott Savol, David Brown, Joseph Murena, Travis Tucker, and Nikko Smith will all be singing for their survival on Monday night.  A breakout performance like Bo had last week could put any of these six right back into the thick of things.  Joseph Murena actually sang extremely well last week, but he has received little screen time so lack of a large fan base could hurt him.  Anthony Fedorov, Scott Savol, and David Brown have all received a lot of screen time, but their performances were a little disappointing last week.  Without breakout performances, Travis Tucker and Nikko Smith are good bets to be going home.

Ryan Seacrest - It’s Not My Show, I Just Work There!

February 27, 2005 07:51:13 by Joe Blackmon

On Thursday, February 24, Reality TV Magazine broke a story about the way Ryan Seacrest eliminated contestants on the American Idol 4 results show.  By Friday, February 25, the New York Post and the New York Daily News were also reporting on how the American Idol results show seemed crueler this year.  Now, Ryan Seacrest has spoken out about the shows change.  Ryan told New York radio station Z100 that it wasn’t him but American Idol producers that called for a results show where "we want to create the most drama, and the most emotion, and we want to make it tough."  Responding to criticism over the way Judd Harris was led to believe he was safe and then eliminated, Ryan said, "again that is concocted by an executive producer who is from the UK."  Ryan went on to elaborate that he wanted to sympathize with the contestants but that he was hired to do a job saying, "It’s not my show, I just work there."

Who is Constantine Maroulis’ Favorite Male Pop Artist?

February 27, 2005 05:39:38 by Joe Blackmon

As if Michael Jackson’s legal troubles weren’t enough, his popularity is also suddenly falling among the American Idol semifinalist.  Once upon a time, the official American Idol website said that Constantine Maroulis’ favorite male pop artist was Michael Jackson.  Now, that very same website says that Constantine’s favorite male pop artist is Jim Morrison.  The website was updated to reflect this change shortly after we ran an article pointing our how two contestants were connected to Michael Jackson, and how Constantine had listed Michael Jackson as his favorite male pop artist.  Why did Constantine’s favorite male pop artist change on the American Idol official site?  Did American Idol producers ask Constantine to pick someone else because of Michael Jackson’s current controversy?  Did they feel that his answer of Michael Jackson wasn’t right for his rocker image?  Or did Constantine just recently discover Jim Morrison’s music which led him to change his mind about his favorite male pop artist selection?

Is This the Blog of Constantine Maroulis?

February 26, 2005 01:30:40 by Joe Blackmon

Someone professing to be Constantine Maroulis has started a blog at http://constantineidol.blogspot.com/  If the blog is really Canstontine, then it probably marks the first time a contestant has blogged while actually competing on American Idol.  We’re a little bit skeptical that this is the real Constintine, but in one of the posts Konstantine expresses dismay over an article where his name is misspelled, so in order to get Counstitine’s attention, we’re making this post.  If this blogger really is Constontine, then we invite him to comment here and clarify the spelling of his name, because we’re having a little trouble getting it right :-)

Constantine Maroulis Elimidate Episode to Air

February 26, 2005 01:19:48 by Joe Blackmon

The Constantine Maroulis episode of elimiDATE is going to be broadcast on Wednesday, March 2, 2005.  A video preview of Constantine’s appearance on elimiDATE can be seen here.  In the video preview, Constantine dances shirtless, calls his singing his "secret weapon," and brags in reference to his competition that "It’s obviously a massive jealously that they possess, and I really don’t even think about it, because I know what I’ve got."  Ironically, Constantine also professes that "I’m not much of a rapper," and of course a rapping comment that Ryan Seacrest made was a source of controversy for Constantine on American Idol 4.
